Atlassian integration
Jira for the work, Confluence for the knowledge. The Atlassian integration files content work as issues and reads the documentation your drafts should be grounded in.
What the Atlassian integration is
The Atlassian connection covers Jira, Confluence and Compass. Jira receives content work as issues in the project you choose; Confluence supplies internal documentation as source material for drafts.
For larger organisations this is usually the deciding integration. Content work has to enter the same governance as everything else, and the product truth lives in Confluence pages that a writer would otherwise have to be told about.
What you can do with it
Four questions the two data sets answer together that neither answers alone.
Citation gaps become issues in the project you nominate, with the brief and evidence attached and your workflow states respected.
Spaces you share become source material, so drafts describe the product as your own documentation does.
Work moves through the same boards, approvals and reporting as the rest of the organisation, which is often the condition for using a new tool at all.
When an issue is done and the page is live, WriteWorks knows, and reports on what the work changed.
How the Atlassian integration works
About a minute to connect, and nothing to maintain afterwards.
Connect your Atlassian site
Open Settings, then Integrations, and choose Atlassian. Authorise the site and the products you want connected.
Choose the Jira project
Pick where content work is filed, along with issue type, default state and labels.
Share the Confluence spaces
Nominate the spaces WriteWorks may read as source material for drafts.
Work and report
Gaps become issues, drafts are grounded in your documentation, and published pages are tracked back to the issues that produced them.
Who uses the Atlassian integration
The same connection answers a different question depending on who is asking.
Run content work inside the governance the rest of the company already uses.
Draft from Confluence documentation rather than from a summary of it.
One backlog, one set of states, one report to the same stakeholders.
File into a client's Jira when that is the system of record for their team.
You bring your own account. The Atlassian integration authenticates with your own account at Atlassian, on your own plan and your own quota. WriteWorks reads the data that account already has access to, and nothing else. Disconnect at any time and the stored credential is deleted.
