Ahrefs integration
Keyword data you already pay for, read next to the prompts AI engines answer about you. The Ahrefs integration uses your own API key and your own quota, so nothing is resold and nothing is estimated.
What the Ahrefs integration is
The Ahrefs connection is a key you paste in once. WriteWorks calls the Ahrefs API as you, on your subscription and your credit allowance, and reads volume, difficulty, related terms and SERP data for the terms a brief is being built around.
It exists because AI visibility and search demand answer different halves of the same question. A prompt an engine gets wrong about you matters more when the underlying keyword carries real volume, and a keyword you could rank for matters more when no engine currently cites anyone useful.
What you can do with it
Four questions the two data sets answer together that neither answers alone.
Every gap arrives with the volume and difficulty behind it, so the queue is ordered by what the work is worth rather than by which gap was noticed first.
Related and matching terms turn one tracked prompt into the cluster a page has to answer, which is usually the difference between a page that ranks and a page that is cited.
SERP data next to citation data shows whether the site an engine quotes is the same one that ranks, or whether an engine has picked someone the results page never rewarded.
Calls run on your Ahrefs plan, are made only when a brief or report needs them, and are shown in WriteWorks so the cost of a research run is never a surprise.
How the Ahrefs integration works
About a minute to connect, and nothing to maintain afterwards.
Create an Ahrefs API key
In Ahrefs, generate an API key on a plan that includes API access. The key belongs to you and can be rotated or revoked from Ahrefs at any time.
Paste the key into WriteWorks
Open Settings, then Integrations, and choose Ahrefs. Paste the key. It is stored encrypted and never shown back in full.
WriteWorks enriches prompts and briefs
Tracked prompts and draft briefs are enriched with volume, difficulty and related terms, so both carry search demand alongside AI visibility.
Prioritise by demand
Opportunities are ranked using your own Ahrefs figures, and each brief names the cluster it has to cover to be worth publishing.
Who uses the Ahrefs integration
The same connection answers a different question depending on who is asking.
Keep the data set you already trust and stop exporting it into a spreadsheet to sit beside AI visibility.
Briefs that arrive with volume, difficulty and the related terms already attached, rather than a title and a hunch.
Use each client's own Ahrefs subscription, keep quota and data separated per brand, and report from one place.
Know what the content queue is worth in search demand before it is committed to a quarter.
You bring your own account. The Ahrefs integration authenticates with your own account at Ahrefs, on your own plan and your own quota. WriteWorks reads the data that account already has access to, and nothing else. Disconnect at any time and the stored credential is deleted.
