Firecrawl integration
When an engine cites a competitor instead of you, the useful question is what that page does differently. The Firecrawl integration fetches it, so the answer comes from the page rather than a guess.
What the Firecrawl integration is
Firecrawl turns a URL into clean, readable content. WriteWorks uses your own Firecrawl key to fetch the pages engines cite, crawl a site during import, and scan your own pages when a brief needs to know what is already there.
It is the difference between knowing you lost a citation and knowing why. A competitor page can be read for structure, depth, freshness and the claims it makes, and that reading becomes the brief for the page that replaces it.
What you can do with it
Four questions the two data sets answer together that neither answers alone.
Fetch the exact page an engine cited and compare it to yours on structure, depth and claims, so the gap is described rather than assumed.
Before commissioning a new page, WriteWorks reads your existing ones. Most citation gaps are a page that exists and does not answer the question cleanly.
Crawl an existing site to bring its pages into WriteWorks, so a content audit starts with the real inventory rather than a spreadsheet of URLs.
When an engine's answer shifts, the source it moved to can be fetched and read, which usually explains the shift.
How the Firecrawl integration works
About a minute to connect, and nothing to maintain afterwards.
Create a Firecrawl API key
Sign in to Firecrawl and create an API key. Usage runs on your plan, so crawl volume and cost stay under your control.
Add the key to WriteWorks
Open Settings, then Integrations, and choose Firecrawl. Paste the key, which is stored encrypted.
Point it at what matters
Cited competitor URLs are fetched as citations are discovered, and you can crawl your own site on demand for an audit or import.
Turn the reading into a brief
What the cited page covers, and what yours does not, becomes the outline WriteWorks drafts against.
Who uses the Firecrawl integration
The same connection answers a different question depending on who is asking.
Briefs grounded in the page that actually won, rather than a summary of it.
Audit a site properly by reading it, including the pages nobody has opened since they were published.
Track what rivals publish and how their cited pages change over time.
Onboard a new client by crawling their site once, on the client's own Firecrawl budget.
You bring your own account. The Firecrawl integration authenticates with your own account at Firecrawl, on your own plan and your own quota. WriteWorks reads the data that account already has access to, and nothing else. Disconnect at any time and the stored credential is deleted.
