What the Exa integration is
Exa is a search API that matches on meaning rather than exact terms, and returns page contents alongside the links. WriteWorks uses your key when a research task needs sources that a keyword query would miss.
That matters for AI search work specifically. Engines answer questions phrased in a customer's language, not an industry's, and the pages they cite are often written in the same everyday register that keyword search handles badly.

Create an Exa API key
Sign up for Exa and create a key. Searches run on your account and quota.
Add the key to WriteWorks
Open Settings, then Integrations, and choose Exa. Paste the key, which is stored encrypted.
Choose where it runs
Use Exa for research tasks, competitor mapping or brief generation, alongside or instead of another search provider.
Publish with the sources kept
Sources stay attached to the draft, so review and fact-checking start from the evidence.
