Why does AI crawler traffic not show in Google Analytics?+
GA4 filters known bots out by design, because for most reporting bot traffic is noise. For AI search it is the opposite: crawler visits are the leading indicator of whether an engine can cite you at all. WriteWorks reads the traffic analytics discards.
What is the difference between a citation crawler and a training crawler?+
A citation crawler such as ChatGPT-User or PerplexityBot fetches a page because a user asked a question right now, and the page may end up cited in that answer. A training crawler such as GPTBot or Google-Extended collects text for future model training. Both matter, but only the first has a direct line to being cited today.
