Agent analytics

Agent analytics for the AI visiting your site

Web analytics was built for people. A growing share of the requests reaching your site come from AI crawlers and agents, and the people they send. WriteWorks agent analytics measures both sides: which AI bots read which pages and why, and how many humans arrive from AI answers.

The challenge

Why agent traffic goes unmeasured

Analytics built for people throws away the AI.

Standard analytics filters AI out

GA4 and similar tools discard bots and depend on JavaScript most AI crawlers never run. The traffic that decides whether AI engines can cite you is the traffic your analytics deletes.

Bots and humans are measured in different places

Crawler hits sit in server logs, AI referrals sit in your web analytics, and nobody joins them. You cannot see that a page ChatGPT reads every day also sends you visitors.

Raw counts without meaning

A total of AI bot requests is not a metric. Without knowing whether a visit was for training, indexing or a live answer, you cannot act on it.

Pages are built for links, not answers

Content written to rank in blue links rarely carries the structure an assistant needs to quote it directly.

The solution

How WriteWorks agent analytics works

Bots and humans from AI, measured in one place.

AI citation crawls, AI training crawls, human visitors referred by AI and the share of your traffic that comes from AI, broken down by platform, bot type and top pages, with period comparison over 7, 30 or 90 days or a custom range.

Measured as a real channel

“Before WriteWorks, our content landed and disappeared. Now every asset ships citation-ready, gets cited across the engines our buyers ask, and ties back to the loop. It's the first time we've measured AI search as a real channel.”

Frequently asked questions

Everything teams typically ask before getting started.

What is agent analytics?+
Agent analytics is the measurement of AI crawlers and agents visiting a website: which bots arrive, which pages they read, what they are fetching for, and how many human visitors AI answers send in return. It fills the gap left by web analytics tools that filter bots out.
How is agent analytics different from Google Analytics?+
Google Analytics measures people through a JavaScript tag and excludes bots. Agent analytics reads server-side request data, so it sees the AI crawlers that never run your tags, and it can still count AI-referred humans with a browser snippet.
How do I set up agent analytics?+
WriteWorks detects your host and suggests a method: a Vercel log drain, a Cloudflare Worker or Logpush job, a Netlify log drain, Fastly logging, Amazon CloudFront, Akamai DataStream, the WordPress plugin, or a Next.js, Express or Nginx snippet.
Does WriteWorks track AI agents that browse on a user's behalf?+
Yes, where they identify themselves. OAI-Operator is classified as AI Assistant, ChatGPT-User as AI Citation, and requests signed with a Web Bot Auth Signature-Agent header are recorded as signed agents.
Which plans include agent analytics?+
Agent analytics is on the Growth and Enterprise plans and on agency plans. It is not included on Starter.
