Buyer personas

Buyer personas the AI actually writes for

Most buyer persona documents describe a person and then sit in a folder. WriteWorks keeps structured buyer personas in the Brand Hub, with roles, pain points, jobs to be done and objections, and passes them to the AI so briefs and drafts speak to the buyer they are meant for.

The challenge

Why buyer personas go unused

Persona documents rarely reach the people, or the AI, doing the writing.

Personas are written once and never used

A persona workshop produces a polished slide for each buyer. Writers rarely open it, and AI tools never see it, so content defaults to a generic reader.

Descriptions are too vague to write for

'Busy marketing manager, values efficiency' does not tell a writer what to say. Without concrete pains, goals and objections, a persona cannot shape a draft.

Writing and measurement use different audiences

The personas content is written for are rarely the same ones used to segment reporting, so you cannot tell whether content for a buyer is landing with that buyer.

Coverage is uneven across engines

Winning the answer on one assistant says nothing about the other nine your buyers actually ask.

The solution

How WriteWorks puts personas to work

Structured fields, a generated starting set and personas passed into AI writing.

The Buyer Personas tab captures each persona as structured fields: name, role, seniority (C-suite, director, manager or individual contributor), pain points, jobs to be done, common objections and the queries they would actually type or ask.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Everything teams typically ask before getting started.

What is a buyer persona?+
A buyer persona is a semi-fictional profile of a type of customer, based on research: their role, what they are trying to achieve, what gets in the way and what makes them hesitate. It helps a team write for a specific person instead of a vague audience.
What should a buyer persona include?+
At minimum: a name and role, seniority, pain points, the jobs they are trying to get done and their common objections. Adding the questions they actually ask makes the persona far more useful for content, which is why WriteWorks includes sample queries as a field.
Is a buyer persona the same as an audience persona?+
They overlap. An audience persona describes anyone you want to reach, including readers who will never buy; a buyer persona focuses on the people involved in a purchase. In WriteWorks, the Audience tab covers your broader audience and the Buyer Personas tab holds structured buyer profiles.
Can WriteWorks generate buyer personas for me?+
Yes. During onboarding it derives a starting set of personas from your brand profile. Treat them as a first draft: review each one, add the pains and objections you hear from real customers, and delete any that do not fit.
How do personas connect to AI visibility tracking?+
The same personas segment your AI visibility tracking, so you can see how visible you are to each buyer. That side is covered on the AI search visibility personas page; this page covers defining personas and writing for them.
